This CD contains scanned images of the 1824 Manchester Directory, which contains hundreds of names & addresses of people living in this county at the time. Over 190 pages. Alphabetical Names Section - a list of the merchants, tradesmen, etc., in the Manchester & Salford area, listed alphabetically by name, showing trades or professions as well as addresses. 181 pages. Country Manufacturers Section - a similar list, but for people from outside the immediate Manchester & Salford town area, with residences or warehouses in town, showing the days they attend markets and inns they call at, etc. 12 pages. The images are in black & white BMP (bitmap) format, compatible with nearly all computers, PC/Mac/Linux and many older systems (Atari/Amiga/etc.) too. You can open them in just about any picture viewing or editing software for browsing/printing as required.
